The Hunt Is On

Peter Reid spoke yesterday of how Argyle's transfer activity will increase over the coming weeks.
With the transfer window shutting on August 31st, Reid seems like he wants a few ins and outs before that deadline.

'I hope to see ins and outs,' The Gaffer explained. 'I've changed things but we're still not there in terms of what I want.'

In terms of options, there are numerous positions where the Pilgrims can improve on.
One key area would probably be the defence. Currently on the books at Home Park are Kari Arnason, Karl Duguid, Bondz N`Gala, Réda Johnson, Krisztián Timár, Marcel Seip, Ryan Leonard, Jordan Trott, Lee Molyneux and Curtis Nelson.

Whilst this list is fairly bulky, it is probable that one or two will be leaving the Pilgrims.

The other problem needed to address is the striking options. Reid is on the lookout for a natural goalscorer. But then, isn't every manager?

Reid will have to look very carefully into finding what he needs. But in actual fact he may have what he needs already…

Young Rory Patterson impressed in the home tie against Carlisle on Saturday.
After 37 minutes the Northern Irishman replaced Rory Fallon in what was a tactical switch with Reid not being impressed by the Kiwi's display.
Up stepped Rory Patterson to give the Carlisle defence something different to handle. He did the job that Peter Reid needed him for and bagged his first goal for the Pilgrims.

But this goal may be more essential than first thought. Patterson originally could only make a name for himself at non-league level and Rochdale, before moving to Northern Irish team Coleraine. It was there that he boasted a lot of goals to his name; 41 in 40 appearances.

Whilst being in League 1 is a much higher level, Argyle may have just unlocked their secret gem that they so badly have missed since the days of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
