Argyle Set To Sign King

Argyle Set To Sign King

Plymouth Argyle are set to sign Gillingham defender Simon King on-loan for a month.

The 28-year old can play at left-back or centre-back and will bring some much-needed experience to Peter Reid's young team.

King, who has been capped at international level for the England C team, started his career with his home-town club Oxford United before moving to Barnet and was voted Player of the Year for the 2006-2007 season.
The 6-foot tall defender signed for Gillingham in the summer of 2007 for £200,000 and won the players' Player of the Year accolade at the end of his first season.

The 2008-2009 season was even better for King who scooped most of the end of season awards at Priestfield.
However, King missed the entire 2008-2009 season after damaging his ankle in a pre-season friendly.

King returned to action at the end of last season and made four first-team appearances for Gillingham.
With a full pre-season training regime now under his belt King should be an asset to Reid's team.

Welcome aboard the good ship Mayflower!
