Football League Decline League 3 Offer
Football League clubs have politely refused the offer of a new League 3.
The 72 clubs met in Portugal (why meet there?) for the annual Football League conference and discussed the proposal from the FA.
Greg Dyke fronted an FA Commission looking at the future of football in England and one of the proposals is to create a new tier in the Football League to accommodate unused players from the Premier League.
The Commission stated that a new League Three would be formed in 2016-2017 consisting of 10 B teams from the Premier League and 10 from the Conference with promotion and relegation permitted up to League One.
After the Football League conference the Football League Chief Executive Shaun Harvey said: 'Whilst it's fair to say there is no appetite amongst clubs for the use of B teams or Strategic Loan Partnerships in the football pyramid, they did share his overriding concern about the development of young English footballers and supported a number of the report's other recommendations.'
