Goodbye League Two

Goodbye League Two

2011 and hello again League Two
Admin and relegation brought us to you
We didn't want to visit but had no voice
Financial mismanagement gave us no choice

One point from 27 was a very bad start
Game after game we did fall apart
The kids and the loans gave it their all
Would we beat the ultimate fall?

Vigils and buckets brought us together
James Brent saved us, he was clever
Fans United show they care
Fletch saved us with 2 points to spare

Another season, another low
Sorry Fletch you had to go
Sheridan arrived from way up north
We ultimately finished bottom fourth

The following season we finished at ten
The boys in Green were now grown men
The club was safe and able to cope
Ready for a season of brand new hope

A play-off berth reached at seven
After years of struggle it felt like heaven
Three Little Birds sang and flew
Wycombe were better we all knew

Next was Derek who came from the Scots
Helped by coaches Brew and Wotts
The Greens led for most of the season
But fell away for no good reason

Another play-off, this time at Fratton
It finished level, now it was our turn
He headed at the back did Peter Hartley
A last gasp winner that sent us to Wembley

Stage fright cost us the game
AFC Wimbledon wrote their name
A short summer of who will stay
We need new players come what may

Derek ripped it up to start again
Please no more play-off pain
The new team didn't start so well
Bottom of the league we once again fell

A win at Notts started our rise
A few more wins with eyes on the prize
On the road we were hard to beat
13 away wins is an amazing feat

Top spot was ours and looking to kill
Smashing Exeter five goals to nil
Rovers pushed us down one place
The title run was a two-horse race

Just one point needed for a superb promotion
The Greens scored six and caused a commotion
The win secured just as we knew
Say goodbye to dear old League Two
