Argyle Grandstand Documents Submitted

The first step in the planning procedure for a refurbished grandstand at Home Park has taken place.

On Tuesday documents were lodged with the planning officer at Plymouth City Council for the proposed project in Central Park, the three developments are a refurbished grandstand at Home Park, a construction of an ice rink called the Mayflower Ice Arena and commercial and leisure block at Higher Home Park and a hotel and commercial units on the Western Gateway Site.

A 'Screening Opinion' has been submitted to PCC which is a process conducted before a full planning application is submitted and decides which project requires an Environmental Impact Assessment.
The aim of the 'Screening Opinion' is to identify whether a development will have an effect on the environment before a planning application is formally submitted.

Six documents have been sent to the planning office, these include drawings and images of the three developments and a covering letter on behalf of Plymouth Argyle Football Club and Higher Home Park Nominee Limited from project director Tony Hopwood.

The letter explains the development will be spread across three projects where full planning applications will soon be sought for two projects while the Western Gateway Site will initially request an outline consent.
The letter notes the previous scheme at Home Park in 2013, which had far more buildings at Higher Home Park, did not impact on the environment under the 'Screening Opinion' that preceded that planning application.

The 'Screening Opinion' appears to be a formality and is excellent news that the procedure for a refurbished grandstand is underway.
The documents are available to view on the PCC website where members of the public can make comments on the three projects.
