Two late goals from Exeter's Ollie Watkins dropped Argyle out of the League Two automatic promotion places with this 2-1 defeat.

In a game in which the Greens totally dominated it was two goalkeeping mistakes from Luke McCormick that gifted Exeter an undeserved win in the Devon Derby at St James Park.
Matt Jamille had given Argyle the lead early in the second half and the game looked won but we just couldn't take our chances.

In short, we completely threw it away after looking so dominant.

We didn't take our chances and once Exeter scored the first goal we panicked and never looked comfortable, just like the game against York.
McCormick was once again easily beaten for the first goal and should have done better for the second goal, he insists on not wearing a cap but today the sun was shining straight at him when a looping deflected long range shot went over his head. He did make one good save but was poor on the two goals.

On the plus side we were easily the better team in both halves particularly in the second half when we were totally in command.

The Reuben Reid and Matt partnership caused all sorts of problems and it was Reid battling away that set up our goal. The ball fell to Matt who thumped in from 15 yards out to spark crazy scenes amongst the 1,664 Argyle fans.

The first half was a cagey affair with Argyle having the better possession and chances while Exeter hardly threatened the Argyle goal.

However, the second half was dominated by Argyle but couldn't convert that superiority into more than one goal.

Reid and Matt combined for the goal, Reid battled against two defenders, the ball fell to Matt who smacked the ball in. 1-0 and everything looking Green.

Reid had a header go over the crossbar from a Jake Jervis cross and Reid also had a flicked back heel that was saved. We really needed that second goal.

Against the run of play McCormick was beaten too easily by a low shot from Watkins, he really should have done better.
Exeter had their tails up and we sat back, McCormick partially redeemed himself with a great save.

By now the panic in the Argyle defence had well and truly set in.

With just minutes remaining a long deflected looping shot from Watkins went over McCormick and nestled into the net, a real kick in the teeth for us. Sickening!

Houghton, Reid, McHugh, Matt, Hartley, Sawyer and Nelson all played well. Carey, Jervis and McCormick were off form, we needed more from them today.

Exeter were poor considering they were the home team, we dominated and we still lost. How the hell did we lose that game?

Where do we go from here?

Man of the match. Matt.

McCormick 4, Forster 6, Nelson 7, Hartley 7, Sawyer 7, McHugh 7, Houghton 7, Carey 6, Jervis 5, Matt 8, Reid 7. Subs Mellor 7, Tanner n/a.

McCormick received over the top abuse from the Exeter fans, when will those in charge at Exeter do something about it?
