Two late goals from Jamille Matt and substitute Gregg Wylde gave Argyle a 2-1 win against a stunned Portsmouth team.

The Greens were trailing from a first half header from Mike Smith but roared on by 2,400 fans Matt and Wylde scored two goals in the 86th minute to claim a valuable 3 points in the race for automatic promotion.

Just when it looked like our automatic promotion chance was gone and just when it looked like manager Derek Adams had delayed too long to bring on Wylde up popped Matt and Wylde to score two late goals and win the game.

There were amazing scenes at the end between the fans and players and Adams.
Peter Hartley, Curtis Nelson, Luke McCormick and coach Paul Wotton were all thumping their chest and pointing to the club crest. #emotional
What a finish and fantastic celebrations. Adams was the last person to leave the pitch to great applause from the fans.

There was bullish and overconfident chatter from Pompey manager Paul Cook all week before the game and yet it was him who was left with Green egg on his face. For a home side chasing promotion to only have three shots on target is poor. His team couldn't cope with a resurgent Argyle team late in the game.

We played well during the first half and nearly scored when McHugh headed against the post from a Graham Carey corner.

Carey and Jake Jervis were not suited on the wings because they played on the side that was opposite to their favoured foot. It must have been a deliberate tactic from Adams but it wasn't working.

Pompey were not good for a home team, their main tactic was to target our left side and young left Ben Purrington.

We switched off from a quick throw in, the cross came in, Hartley and Purrington didn't deal with it and Smith headed in.

McCormick handled outside of the area and received a yellow card, he also made a great save soon after to keep out Pompey.

The goal knocked us back because for the rest of the first half and most of the second we struggled and lost our way.

Carey and Jervis swapped wings but couldn't make any impression on the game.

After chants for Wylde he finally came on for Purrington with McHugh switching to left back.
However it was the introduction of Reuben Reid and a switch to three centre backs (Nelson, McHugh and Hartley) that have us some momentum.

Carey's corner was headed in by Matt who bravely beat the keeper when jumping.
Soon after Carey claimed an assist by crossing to Wylde who finished from close range. 2-1 and absolutely incredible scenes amongst the Green Army.

We were dead and buried until those two late goals.

Ironic that our two best corners were the first and last of the game, in between they were poor from Carey and Jervis.

I think today we played three different formations: 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 3-5-2.

Boateng was everywhere and back to the Boateng we know from earlier in the season, strong running and tackling.

Nelson and Hartley were strong, McHugh was just McHugh, no explanation needed.

Houghton and Jervis struggled, Wylde frightened the life out of Pompey.
Matt had another good game, hardwork and another goal.

Brilliant! Four cup finals left and this amazing win should give the players huge confidence to win all four.

Man of the Match Boateng.

McCormick 7, Mellor 7, Nelson 7, Hartley 7, Purrington 5, McHugh 7, Houghton 5, Boateng 8, Carey 7, Jervis 5, Matt 7. Subs Reid 7, Wylde 7.
